Jong Chul is a CEO of Air PREMIA, a long-haul ‘hybrid service’ airline company established in 2017. From December 2009 to March 2012, he had worked as a CEO of Jeju Air, the largest low-cost airline in Korea, and led a successful turnaround. He was an outside director of Jeju Air before taking a position of CEO. Before working as a CEO at Jeju Air, Jong Chul was a senior partner at EON Group and as a senior consultant at McKinsey. While at McKinsey, he worked on various projects at offices in Seoul, Houston, London and Amsterdam. Most of his works as a consultant at EON and McKinsey were on new business and turnaround strategies. Before becoming a consultant, Jong Chul worked for International Paper’s Corporate Research Center in New York, after he completed his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Princeton University in 1986. He graduated from Seoul National University with honor majoring chemical engineering. He also got an MBA degree majoring a finance and international business from New York University in 1992. Since 2012, he has been teaching as an adjunct professor at K-School of Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He has also served as a board member of Public Institution Management Committee in Ministry of Strategy and Finance from 2012 to 2015.
