Gyeongwon Shin is a CEO of Air Daegu, headquartered in Daegu, South Korea. Air Daegu is establishing a low-cost carrier, with Daegu Airport as a base. Shin founded Air Daegu on October 2015. As the Korean government have recently doubled the requirements for LCC license, an overall reexamination of factors such as capital requirements and business plan has started. Air Daegu will apply for international airline license by the end of June 2018, and is planning to acquire the license by the end of year and enter international flight service by the end of next year. Air Daegu is planning to start its service with 5 aircrafts next year, expanding it to 15 by 2023. Shin graduated from the Seoul National University, and have received doctorate degree from Yeongnam University. He worked in the Korea Economic Daily, the largest economic newspaper in Korea, for 25 years as a journalist and a director. During his career as a journalist, he exclusively covered economic area, including aviation and airport. Currently, Shin is a CEO of Air Daegu and an adjunct professor of management at Yeongnam University. Shin has a wide range of field experiences from his career as a journalist for economic newspaper. He worked as a consultant for Daewoo Securities, a largest stock firm in Korea, has consecutively served as an outside director of listed companies including Maxrotec, and participated in the establishment of Daegu International School, working as its first BOD member. He actively participated in an interagency activities, including serving as a head of the steering committee of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Topnotch Venture Business Association, and have experiences in economic news commentary and economic debate program host in MBC and TBC. He is a member of the board of directors of the Ayang Culture Foundation, and have participated in various local government policy committees as a member of promotion committee.
