Jong Gu Choi is the CEO of Eastar Jet, a low-cost airline of South Korea. Eastar Jet currently operates five domestic routes and 27 international routes to countries such as China and Japan as well as Southeast Asia and, based on its cooperative network with China, has flown to China the most among Korean low-cost carriers. Eastar Jet has an unparalleled experience especially in charter flights to Pyongyang, North Korea. In 2015, it operated a special charter for Hee-ho Lee, first lady of the former president Dae-jung Kim, to Pyongyang and recently, it successfully ran a special charter to the North Korean capital for the South Korean performance team visiting the city before the summit meeting between the North and South. Greeting its 11th year anniversary this year, Eastar Jet is planning to have an IPO by 2019 based on its continued growth and aims to make a new leap to become the best LCC in Northeast Asia with the introduction of the next generation model B737-MAX, vigorous sales marketing, development of new routes, and vitalization of regional airports. Prior to joining Eastar Jet, Choi had served as the Executive Vice President of Eastar Jet and CEO of Eastar Port, a subsidiary of Eastar Jet as well as successively filled various posts as Executive Director of KIC Co., Ltd. and CEO of Best Investment Consulting Co., Ltd. He is a graduate of Hanyang University with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Diplomacy and completed the Public Administration course at Seoul National University Graduate School as well as the Wharton-KMA Chief Executive Course. He also completed the Korea University Policy Graduate School's Highest Policy Course.
