Dr. Jae Woon (June) Lee is an Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Law School. Born in Seoul and educated there as well as at McGill University and National University of Singapore, June teaches aviation law and competition law. He has been working, teaching and researching in the field of aviation law and policy since 2004. June has seven years of legal affairs experience in the airline industry. Since 2012, he has been a legal consultant to Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on aviation law and policy issues including air service negotiation and open skies. He was a legal advisor to the Korean delegation at the ICAO Legal Committee and Diplomatic Conference in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. June authored the 2016 book Regional Liberalization in International Air Transport: Towards Northeast Asian Open Skies. He has published on aviation legal issues in leading journals including the Annals of Air & Space Law, Air & Space Law, Journal of Air Law and Commerce, Issues in Aviation Law and Policy, Journal of East Asia and International Law, Hong Kong Law Journal and Brooklyn Journal of International Law. June has commented in media including Channel NewsAsia and the South China Morning Post. He has authored opinion pieces for Korean Newspapers including Dong-A Ilbo, Maeil Business Newspaper, and the Korea Economic Daily. He frequently presents at academic and aviation industry conferences. He is currently researching legal issues related to aviation and competition, including airline subsidies and antitrust immunity for airline alliances.
